Why Work at BPL

Burnaby Public Library is an urban library system of four branches that serves a diverse and changing community of more than 230,000.

BPL is big enough to give you opportunities to advance your skills, knowledge and career, yet small enough for you to get to know your colleagues in all four branches. We support and motivate staff to develop and grow.

At BPL, you can be a member of a committed team of staff who:

  • are committed to meeting the needs of our highly diverse community by emphasizing a community development approach to service design and delivery
  • have a strong commitment to in-person service
  • take pride in our broad and deep collections

We believe that diversifying our team makes our organization stronger and more reflective of the community we serve. We seek people who embrace empathy and bring different experiences and perspectives.
