About Burnaby Public Library

Located on the ancestral and unceded homelands of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵw̱xwú7mesh speaking peoples, Burnaby Public Library (BPL) creates inclusive spaces where people can gather, learn and play. BPL is an urban library system that serves a highly diverse, multilingual and evolving city of over 250,000 people. We have a strong commitment to in-person service both inside and outside our library walls, and take pride in our broad and deep collections. Our 2024-2027 Strategic Plan guides us to meet the changing needs of our communities.

Why Work at BPL

BPL is big enough to give you opportunities to advance your skills, knowledge and career, yet small enough for you to get to know your colleagues at our four locations. We support and motivate staff to develop and grow.

We welcome people of all gender identities and expressions, ages, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, sexual orientations and life experiences to work with us. We believe that diversifying our staff will make our organization better and more reflective of the community we serve.

BPL is committed to staff work-life balance. We are a living wage employer and offer competitive wages and benefits. You can find detailed benefits for active job postings under Current Opportunities.
