StrideFest 2026 presents creating hybrid poetry collages with award-winning poet and master of fine arts graduate, Cynthia Sharp.

In this workshop, you will study ekphrastic and interdisciplinary poems to produce your own interdisciplinary visual narratives by writing to provided art, then cutting and pasting your poetry lines onto paintings. You can experiment with line placement as a form of editing, arranging your verse onto your selected painting in different configurations.

Participants will leave with several versions of their initial poem and their chosen painting. We will work with paintings donated by New Westminster artist, Candice James. Participants are welcome to bring printouts of personal photos or artwork to paste poetry lines onto. Everyone is welcome!

Crafting materials, such as blank paper, scissors, clear glue, tape, colouring pencils and markers, will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own supplies.

Presented in partnership with StrideFest and The Long Table Society.
