Poetry Workshop: The Body Knows The Poem
In this generative poetry workshop, we'll explore what it means to write beyond politeness, perfection and self-censorship. Drawing inspiration from poets such as June Jordan, Morgan Parker, Kenyatta Rogers and others who write with fearless intimacy, we'll use guided meditation, close readings and generative prompts to write poems that alchemize rage, desire and the erotic. Together, we'll write the poems that go straight for the jugular and don't ask for permission.
Come prepared to experiment, and leave with new poems and new ways of writing with your whole self. For ages 18 and up.
In partnership with Deer Lake Artist in Residencies, City of Burnaby.
