Build on your basic Excel skills and terminology in two classes.

You’ll learn how to create complex formulas, charts and graphs.

There will be time for individual learning, working in pairs, and practicing your skills.

Prerequisites: experience using computers, and knowledge of basic Excel concepts.

LinkedIn is a social networking site designed for members to establish professional connections. It is a digital space where employers and job seekers can find each other.

This information session will explore such things as the creation of a profile, the content you’ll find on LinkedIn, and the ways in which you can strengthen your professional network.

Basic computer knowledge is necessary to register.

If you're interested in using your Instagram account to develop your career, this class is for you! Bring your mobile device and connect with your colleagues on one of the most popular social networks. This class will go over business accounts, strategies for increasing follower counts, managing ad campaigns, developing a visual brand and scheduling posts.

This program is for beginners who have never tried coding. We will go over basic tags used for web page layout and organization. There will be a demonstration followed by an independent activity where you can get creative and build your own web page.

Learn what the Internet is, understand how to navigate to websites and use a search engine to find information. We’ll cover basic terminology and explain key features of web browsers and websites. We’ll also practice using Google Search, Google Maps, and Google Translate, and explore a variety of websites that are practical for Canadian residents.

There are courses on career improvement, productivity, marketing and more. If you want to acquire more business and technology skills then this session is for you. Please bring your own headphones.

Prerequisite: Must be comfortable using computer, keyboard and mouse and have valid Burnaby Library card.

Create and customize a website, blog, portfolio, or other creative project using WordPress. This interactive workshop will include how to:

• set up your own WordPress.com site,
• customize the look of your site,
• create posts and pages,
• organize your website content,
• navigate around the WordPress dashboard.

We’ll also review WordPress’s terms of service.

Basic computer knowledge is necessary. An email address is required to create a WordPress account. This workshop does not cover setting up a domain name or website hosting, but we can refer you to resources for more information.

Learn the basics of word processing. If you have basic computer skills and want to learn how to use a word processor like Microsoft Word, this course is for you.

Wednesdays, May 20 AND 27 - Must attend both sessions
10:30 am to 12:30 pm

The first class will teach basic commands and functions of MS Excel: creating a new spreadsheet, entering, deleting and formatting data, sorting information and creating basic formula, plus saving and printing. The second class will teach making a budget, applying multiplication and division formulas, and making a chart or graph from a spreadsheet. Participants are expected to attend both sessions.
