The Burnaby Public Library Board is proud to announce the launch of our new 4-year strategic plan, highlighting community connections, inclusive spaces, curiosity and learning, and a strengthened organizational culture.

The planning process incorporated in-person meetings, online surveys with board members and staff, and a public online survey to capture diverse community perspectives. We engaged with patrons inside our branches, met with community groups, and spoke with leaders from local community organizations.

We’re excited to share the resulting strategic plan that boldly outlines commitments to serving communities in their preferred language, enhancing information literacy and civic engagement, and celebrating Burnaby’s diverse communities within BPL spaces. The plan reaffirms BPL's values of integrity, intellectual freedom, and community, while embracing new values of creativity and joy; equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility; and a commitment to Reconciliation, Indigenization, and decolonization.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the development of our new strategic plan. Your insights and feedback helped shape the future direction of the Burnaby Public Library and we look forward to bringing this plan to life over the next four years.
