The McGill branch of Burnaby Public Library will be undergoing renovations, starting August 21, 2024. Renovations will include an improved lobby with more space and seating, and a new automated book return, which helps us get materials back onto our shelves, and to you, more quickly.

This project is expected to be completed in February 2025. McGill will be open with regular hours during construction.

Using the Library

  • Enter and exit the library using the side door, located west of the main sliding doors.
  • If you need to use an accessible entrance:
    • Use the elevator, located in the undercover parking lot, or
    • Call us at 604-299-8955 when you arrive. A staff member will assist you with entering the building.
  • The community room will be unavailable.
  • There may be intermittent noise due to construction. The service desk can provide earplugs.

Returning Items

  • The last day to use the outdoor library return is Sunday, August 18.
  • Starting August 19, returns will only be accepted during open hours. Drop off your items in the return bin inside the library.
  • You can return items 24/7 at our Bob Prittie Metrotown and Tommy Douglas locations, or at most Interlink libraries.

You can continue to browse and borrow library materials, use computers, scanning, and printing services, access washrooms, and get information help at McGill during the renovation. The City of Burnaby Archives will remain open with regular hours.

Construction may impact library services on short notice, and we'll update this page once we know of any interruptions. Check this page before planning your visit.
