Citizenship preparation

Borrow a copy of the Discover Canada Guide with your library card. Staff can also help find information to support learning in subjects areas on the test. Use our computers and printers to print documents and look for information.

Employment

Burnaby Public Library can help you find the right resources for to prepare for your career, search for jobs, prepare for applications or interviews, and anything else you may need help with.

Learning English

We have books and online resources for learning English, preparing for English tests (IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL or CELPIP), and for help with grammar, reading comprehension, writing, listening, speaking and more.

Offers group workshops or individual sessions on job search services, skills enhancement services such as academic upgrading and training customized job placements.

They offer work experience placement services for clients with significant barriers to employment, as well as financial supports for childcare, transportation to help you get to job interviews, and help purchasing tools (for those who qualify).

Services are available for unemployed or precariously employed people who are legally allowed to work in BC -Canadian citizens, permanent residents.

Some temporary workers may be also eligible for the services: Convention refugees, protected persons, open work permit holders, and those who have been granted permanent resident status but not yet received a permanent SIN.
