Types of Membership
There's a library membership for everyone! Most are free except for our Subscription Membership. Learn more about which one is right for you.
Who is it for?
For people ages 13 and up who:
- Live or own property in Burnaby.
- Live within the InterLINK area.
- Are a staff member or student at a school in Burnaby.
- Are a student at Douglas College.
Special considerations:
- Up to 100 items can be borrowed at a time.
- Burnaby residents can access our online e-book and audiobook collection, and borrow up to 10 items at a time.
Who is it for?
For kids under 13, who live in the InterLINK area.
Special considerations:
- To sign up, visit any branch with your parent or legal guardian, or talk to us.
- Your parent or guardian is responsible for items borrowed on your library account.
- Up to 100 items can be borrowed at a time.
- Burnaby residents can access our e-books and downloadable audiobooks, and borrow up to ten of these items at a time.
Who is it for?
For anyone who:
- Works with groups of children, teens or adults and lives in Burnaby.
- Works in Burnaby with groups of children, teens or adults.
- Is a student teacher living or studying in Burnaby or at a Burnaby organization.
- Is an Early Childhood Education (ECE) student living or studying in Burnaby or at a Burnaby organization.
Special considerations:
- Up to 100 items can be borrowed at a time.
- Group Loan Memberships have access our online e-book and audiobook collection, and can borrow up to ten items at a time.
- Storytime kits can be borrowed (maximum of 2 per account).
- Items from the Curiosity Collection can be borrowed (maximum of 5 per account).
Who is it for?
For people who live outside of the InterLINK area in British Columbia, and have a library card from their home library.
Special considerations:
- To sign up, bring your local library card and identification with proof of your current address.
- Up to ten items can be borrowed at a time.
- Types of material that can be borrowed: books, books with CDs or DVDs, spoken word CDs, and music CDs.
- Only 5 at a time of each kind of material can be borrowed.
- Membership expires after one year.
- Our online e-book and audiobook collection will not be available.
- Some digital resources cannot be accessed due to licensing requirements.
Who is it for?
For people who live outside of the InterLINK area and do not qualify for a BC OneCard.
How to apply:
Come to the service desk at any branch of the library and we can help you sign up. Subscription rates apply.
Subscription rates:
Individual: $40 annual / $20 semi-annual
Students: $20 annual / $10 semi-annual*
*students attending school in Burnaby and students of Douglas College, can get a free general membership.
Special considerations:
- Online e-book and audiobook collections will not be available.
- Some digital resources cannot be accessed due to licensing requirements.
