There are two versions of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test.

The IELTS General Training test is for those who are going to English speaking countries for secondary education, work experience or training programs. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the English language ability of non-native speakers applying for English-speaking universities. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions.

There are two versions of the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) test.

CELPIP General test results are accepted as language proof when applying for permanent residency in Canada.

CELPIP General LC tests results are accepted as language proof when applying for Canadian citizenship.

Immigration path may determine which CELPIP test version is accepted; check with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for requirements.

Both CELPIP versions may be accepted for professional designations.
