Our Reference Collections ensure print reference and research materials you need are always available. Visit any Burnaby Public Library location for dictionaries and encyclopedias, or visit Bob Prittie Metrotown for the broadest selection of reference materials.

Examples of what we have:

  • Reference books and encyclopedias on a wide range of topics, including health and medicine, the environment, cooking, art, music and literature
  • Canadian legal resources, including books on taxes, real estate, immigration, business and labour law, wills and estates
  • Historic newspapers, including recent newspapers in print and historical newspapers on microfilm. A microfilm reader is located on the second floor.
  • Business and trade directories
  • Topographic BC maps and detailed Burnaby maps
  • Street and telephone directories dating back to the 1960s
