Accessible Audiobook Service provides audiobooks to patrons with a perceptual or print disability. Accessible Audiobook patrons have access to audiobooks beyond the library collection available at our branches.

Because we’re a member of Public Library InterLINK, our patrons have access to their extensive audiobook collection for people with perceptual disabilities.

Patrons with their BPL library card can also set-up accounts with CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) and NNELS (National Network for Equitable Library Service), two online providers of materials in accessible formats for folks with perceptual disabilities.

What's CELA?

Burnaby residents with a perceptual disability have access to Center for Equitable Library Access (CELA), an online service that provides access to an extensive collection of downloadable reading material in accessible formats. Their collection includes books, newspapers and magazines.

What's NNELS?

National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS) is an online provider of downloadable audiobooks for people with perceptual disabilities.

How do I get books from the Accessible Audiobook Collection?

We recognize that needs differ, so we offer a number of ways to access our Accessible Audiobook collection. Once you register with our Home Library and Accessible Service, you can arrange to have material sent to the branch of your choice, or set up home delivery if you’re eligible.

How do I sign up to be a part of the Accessible Audiobook Service?

This program is run by our Home Library and Accessible Service department. Call 604-436-5423 for more information.

We are happy to discuss your library needs. Please give us a call to find out more and discuss how the library can help you access library material.
