Some interlibrary loan requests may be delayed during the nationwide strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. There are no Canada Post deliveries during the strike.

If you are looking for an item that we don't own, we can try to borrow it from another library using our interlibrary loan service. Call us 604-436-5400 for help with placing a request, or visit Illume to request an item from another library.

If you're looking for an item published within the past two years, we may be able to purchase it for our library. Fill out our Suggest a Title form to make a request.

Request an interlibrary loan by calling 604-436-5400 or email us. You can also make a request yourself by searching for the item you want in Illume and filling out the form.

We try to find materials without a fee, but the lending library may charge a service fee. When you fill out the request form, let us know the maximum you are willing to pay.

  • Up to $5 for items in BC
  • Up to $10 for items from outside of BC (in Canada)
  • Up to $20 for items from the United States

The loan period is 4 weeks, unless the lending library sets a shorter loan period. There are no renewals.

Please return items to the branch you picked them up at, with the pink paper band and barcode still attached. There is a $1 charge for a missing pink band and barcode.

While we don't charge overdue fines for items belonging to BPL, there is a $0.30 charge per day for overdue items borrowed from other libraries.
