Visit our catalogue to log in and access your library account. You'll need your library card number and PIN to log in.
You can also get to your account two other ways:
- Click on the Shortcuts menu, then click on Account / Sign In under Returning Visitors
- Click on Things to Borrow > All About Borrowing, then click on Account / Sign In under Returning Visitors
If you're on a mobile device, download and log into our catalogue app to access your library account. Once you're logged in, you can renew, check your due dates, place holds, and change your account information. Download the app for free for Apple or Android devices.
Come to any BPL library location and talk to staff at the service desk, or call us at 604-436-5400. We'll make you a library card that you can use right away.

It might be:
- It's not an item you can place a hold on
- You've reached your maximum number of holds or checkouts
- There are charges owing

It might be:
- You've reached the maximum number of renewals, or
- Someone else has requested the item.
Most items can be renewed twice, unless someone has requested it.
Book club sets and items borrowed through interlibrary loan can't be renewed.
We don't charge late fees! But we do want our items back, so we’ll let you know when something is overdue. If it is more that 28 days overdue, you’ll need to return it before you can borrow again.

Yes! If you are looking for an item that we don't own, we can try to borrow it from another library. Request an interlibrary loan by phone, email or in person at any branch. You can also make a request yourself by searching for the item you want in Illume and filling out the form.

We welcome your suggestions for items that have been published within the past few years. Check our library catalogue first to see if we own the item. If we don't, use our online form to suggest a title.
If you're looking for an older item, use our Interlibrary Loan Service.
If you're an author and you would like us to purchase your book for our collection, email us. Due to the volume of requests, we may not be able to respond to every submission. Please do not send unsolicited material.
BPL no longer accepts donations of books and other materials. Please contact us for information about donation or recycling alternatives for your unwanted books.
